Discovery Phases in UX [#uxchat roundup] How important are discovery phases in UX? [#uxchat roundup]

Last week on #uxchat, we discussed discovery phases in UX.  Are they given enough credence? We ran a Twitter poll asking this question and an overwhelming majority said “no” so it’s about time we discuss discovery phases. Here are the talking points:

1. How important are discovery phases in UX? Are they given enough credence?

2. When’s it best to do discovery phases? What circumstances may restrict doing it?

3. What are the quick wins to doing discovery phases? What are the tools UX practitioners use to do this?

We’re joined by host Jon Warden, Head of Product and UX at Haymarket Media Group.
